Re: [Marxism] Juan Cole feedback
Juan Cole's website is a great source of facts and cultural and factual
background about Iraq and it's political leaders, trends, forces, and
history.
To my knowledge, he is a strong, intelligent critic of the war but has
never advocated immediate withdrawal.
His website should be used primarily for insight into the country and
its politics, but not as a source of political orientation.
In that sense, his brief, respectful response to Louis was appropriate.
Personally, I doubt that he will fall for the "civil war" gambit as an
excuse to continue the occupation. But his website is more about
scholarship and broad analysis, with excellent knowledge of cultural and
religious background, than antiwar propaganda.
