I had discussions with SA members on the question of left regroupment, in 1983.
They were oppossed to it. Their position was that a "return to the SWP of the
sixties" was the cure-all for what ailed the left. Anyone who disagreed with
this was written of as a "sectarian". The split from SWP going off in three
different directions didn't help matters. I heard that when the Fourth
International Tendency (FIT) went into Solidarity, rather then as a fusion, FIT
members had to apply individually for membership into Solidarity. If this is
true, and I emphasize "if", this humiliation of FIT members does not speak well
of Solidarity.
