In Suharto?s Indonesia, it was said members of parliament and similar types
attending important events went through the following sequence:
Datang ? arrive
Duduk ? sit
Diam ? stay silent
Dengar ? listen
Duit ? money.
The joke probably still applies today. There is also the word "amplop",
meaning envelope, but by extension an envelope containing money. Hence
expressions like "budaya amplop" (envelope culture) to indicate corruption.
