Re: [Marxism] Anthro 101 and Apes and Monkeys
Hello Charles,
Many thanks for this.
What I have argued is mathematical, based on certain assumptions: that life
began with a single cell; that the shape of the cell was likely at least
roughly spherical and that a two-or more-celled organism arising from the
single cell would also be roughly spherical. Hence the relationship of the
surface to the volume would decrease as the organisms acquired more cells,
giving a disadvantage to the multicelled organism compared to the
unicellular form and thus blocking evolution at the source. I have
included the possibility that contact between the surfaces of the cells
might not be complete. Like other applications of logic, the conclusion I
have drawn is bound to be true if my assumptions are true.

I could have missed something , but seems pretty clear that the position you
were arguing had a significant amount of speculation in it too, no ? There
is very little direct evidence of what was happening with the one and two
celled organism from a few billion years ago. Only fossils
