I know enough about Marxism, and the history of
Socialism in general, to know with great regret
how much I do not know. Therefore I very much
appreciate this statement of purpose from Louis...
I also would hope that when you sit down to
write something to the list, in the back of
your mind questions such as this will be posed:
"What new information will comrades learn from
my post?"; "How will my post serve to
*resolve* a controversy rather than to keep it
going?"; "What avenues of research will be
opened up by my post?"; etc.
I sense that there is enough (of course there
could be more) of this now (and I note with
respect a the list's growing international flavor)
to warrant automatically dropping contributors who
sponsor banality, In fact I am surprised at the
patience shown over some of the threads. I
encourage Louis in his efforts to "shape" the list
in the stated direction.
It should also be noted that it is now very, very
easy (and without cost) to create one's own list.
This would be extremely useful to those children
of the capitalist system who already know, with
precision, which Marxist solutions will work.
