Re: [Marxism] Michael Moore decline continues

I'm sure Mike More is aware that his popularity as a populist provides a
restraint on what he can say. If he >goes *too far*, the capitalist class
will shut him out - using his 'too far' stuff against him. Sure, this
limits both >what he can say, and what he wants to say - but it does not
limit what WE can say.
I agree fully, and it actually comfirms what MM is saying about the Left,
that we are nuts.
In a sane, non-liquidationist left, MM would be the equivalent of Sartre, a
trampoline any radical, transformative, progressive and revolutionary cause
can bounce off. He could be a very useful tool indeed.
But no, we are so purist, so holier-than-thou that we have to push him
aside, and predictably he moves to the right. And he is not the first guy or
girl this is done to. Marlon Brando, Sean Penn, Madonna, Bill Maher, these
are all people who could (or would) be spokespersons for the radical,
transformative, left, and more than spokespeople, trampolines to moved the
public agenda towards the left. Brando was to Macho, Penn is to anarchist,
Madonna is to post-fem, Bill Maher loves Playboy (another missed opportunity
for the left, the first interview with Fidel Castro I read was in a1985 or
1986 edition of Playboy) etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.
I am not a liberal, and have no love for social-democracy. But for example,
in Norway you have boutique internet consulting firms that boast their
president was the leader of a Maoist party in his youth, who met Mao in
person no the less!
Sure, there is right wing in norway. Sure its is an imperialist country. But
the repressive tolerance is by an large exercised towards the right, not the
left. What is so wrong with trying to switch from the defensive into the
offensive? The RV in Norway only gets 3% vote, but their leaders and
thinkers are all mainstream figures in Norwegian society.
Likewise, the criticism of MM in the face of a left enamored with Chavez is
risible.
Or we are to believe Venezuela is socialist?
Why is it that the USA left is so willing to support populist, liberal,
social-democratic forces everywhere in the "third world", be it in
Venezuela, Nicaragua, Brazil, South Africa, etc, but are completely unable
to allow the same to happen in the USA?
Revolutionary purism, IN THE CURRENT SITUATION, is ultimately
liquidationist.
Michael Moore lacks the party summer camp education to express as such, but
that is exactlly what he is trying to say. And we currently are indeed,
myself included, liquidationists.
And to transform that, I think MM points in a more correct direction than
most of his critics. I am not saying he is right, just 70% percent correct
30% percent correct. With a margin of error similar to a Gallup exit poll.
sks
ps it is inclredible that just a short while ago I was getting called an
ultra-leftist by proxy for defending Goff, and now I am called a liberal by
proxy for defending MM.
It illustrates perfectly the sad state of the left in the USA that we prefer
to virulently oppose what they have to say instead of listening to them and
engage in a conversation with them.
