Re: [Marxism] Michael Moore decline continues
----- Original Message -----
From: "Louis Proyect" <lnp3@xxxxxxxxx>
The most important task for American radicals since the end of
reconstruction has been to break the stranglehold on electoral politics by
the two-party system.
And Michael Moore hurts this how?
The guy has been behind any serious effort to build a third party the left
has come up with.
He supported the Labor Party, when that failed because of the petty
bickering then the Greens, and when he saw this monstrousity called Bush, he
joined the ABB Chorus, like most of the left, including so-called
socialists. This stain on his record of third-partyism is not unique, nor a
decline. It is perfectly coherent, for a liberal.
He even wrote a very cool article mocking the Democrat's claim of the Greens
as spoilers in the 2000 election, called "Blame Monica", in reference to
Monica Moorehead and the Worker's World Party, who got exactlly the same
amount of votes that the Bush Camp was claiming they won with.
Michael Moore is a populist liberal, and he has never said otherwise, but
his populism has much more in common with Chavez than his liberalism with,
say, Michael Harrington.
