[Marxism] helicopters?
Does anyone know how many helicopters the US military has total; what % are in
Iraq, Afghanistan and Colombia; and therefore how many could be used for
relief? The obvious reason is that right now the biggest obstacle to relief --
to preventing death by starvation, dehydration or disease -- is getting aid to
areas where ground traffic can't go for either "natural" or political and
economic reasons.
This statistic would be useful for ongoing efforts like those of IAC to
counterpose military spending to relief.
P.S. The NY Times has a graphic today in an article bashing Arab countries for
not giving more aid which shows that the amount the US is giving is once again
the LOWEST per capita of any imperialist nation. CNN yesterday did a similar
Arab-bashing segment. Without of course mentioning that the Arab regimes
mentioned are the same kind of imperialist puppets as those in the tsunami-hit
countries which are blocking some of the relief efforts.
