[Marxism] A. Mani : Re: Popper , Vol 15,
I found the discussion on Popper quite interesting. One thing which he
never understood is dialectical materialism in general and "dialectical
opposition" in particular. This has been due to the brainwashing of
popper by the western media and possibly due to the immature views on
the same due to Russell in particular. There are of course detailed
discussions of these in the literature.
It is important to distinguish between Marxism and Dialectical
Materialism in any discussion on philosophy.
As far as Popper's concept of 'evolution' of science is concerned,
for Popper there could be no such thing effectively. The degree implicit
in 'falsification' is one of rejection. Scientific knowledge in popper's
sense at any point of time consists in just the collection falsifiable
statements. This was missed by paul illich.
