I really can't understand -- I have not been able to understand during
most of the 37+/- years since I became a marxist -- what use, if any,
practical or theoretical, discussion of either Stalinism or "Stalinism"
is. I usually tune out the minute the topic is raised. I often in fact
tune out the minute a writer of speaker self-identifies as a "stalinist"
or a "non-stalinist," a "trotskyist" or a "non-trotskyist." The labels
simply don't have a grip on current political issues, theoretical or
practical.
