Owner's greed, of course, may have been a reason for the disaster.  
But there are two additional reasons, on which I learnt today:

a) people who used to carry fireworks with them used the "emergency 
doors" to evade searchings at the main door, and 

b) burglars and similar elements used to enter the premises through 
the same "emergency doors".

That the solution was incredibly stupid and criminal does not 
minimize the fact that degraded Arg capitalism has set the whole 
society in such a state of anomia that nobody can think of the 
consequences of fireworks in a closed space.  My children have told 
me that it is not unusual that fireworks are lit during music 
(particularly rock-and-roll music) festivals here.

On the other side, there will probably be a press campaign against 
the owner of República Cro Magnon, Omar Chabán, not because of his 
merits as a showbusinessman, but because he publicly holds not-
politically-correct ideas.
