Kharkov residents hold rally to support Yanukovich


DONETSK - More than 50,000 residents of Kharkov
gathered on Freedom Square on Friday to support
presidential candidate and Prime Minister Viktor
Yanukovich. Their slogans were ?Workers for
Yanukovich? and ?No to Fascism.?

Yanukovich, who made a pre-election trip to Kharkov on
Friday, spoke at the rally. He promised that December
26 would be the day of their victory.

Yanukovich thanked Kharkov residents for their
support. He said at a press conference before the
rally that new head of his election staff, Taras
Chernovol, is more independent than previous staff
head Sergei Tigipko.

?Chernovol has an opinion of his own, and he can speak
up,? he said. Yanukovich said that opinions of
Chernovol frequently coincided with his. Meanwhile,
Tigipko was strictly guided with words of his
political scientists. ?If they advised him to do what
he did after the elections, I think that he was an
accidental man in politics,? Yanukovich said.
