[Marxism] mainstream press cowardice
Abhinav Aima writes:
"The cowardice of the mainstream press in the face of American wars...these
newspapers have exhibited cowardice in not daring to be anything more than stenographers
for the powers that be."
This has nothing to do with cowardice, its simply class interests and profits.
The mass media from TV to newspapers are generally owned by larger
multinational corporations whose interests lie in expansion of their products
often via imperialist wars. Their interest in not exposing imperialist
strategies lies in class interest of the capitalists -- namely that of
sustaining or increasing profits. Jounalists who expose such strategies are
either fired or demoted in North America. European capitalist newspapers who
do not have the same interests -- occassionally expose the blatent lies.
