I read somewhere (I think it was James Loewen)that the
US was reluctant to support the Bolivarian wars for
independence from Spain, just as it did not support
the revolution in Haiti (for reasons related to the
racism of the US plantation economy). However, I have
so far found no support for this view anywhere.
Further, it seems the US was quick to recognize the
revolutionary governments of South and Central
America.
Could someone clear this up for me a bit?
