[Marxism] Left Hook fund-drive

I want to strongly motivate contributions to Left Hook, a project that
should be very close to the heart of every Marxmail subscriber. Junaid and
Derek Seidman have launched a very important initiative that is designed to
regroup young independent Marxists and radicals around a nonsectarian and
nondogmatic online journal.

We are in a very important period of the American class struggle right now.
It is a preparatory period not unlike the late 1950s and early 1960s,
before students, blacks and women began to mobilize on a large scale. Our
hope, of course, is that this time they will be joined by the labor movement.

We want to maximize the Marxist pole of this movement to the greatest
extent possible. That is exactly the aim of the activists around Left Hook,
who are frequent contributors to Counterpunch and other radical voices on
and off the Internet. Derek Seidman told me today that he helped to
organize an antiwar meeting at Brown University with over 600 students
attending. We really need to encourage the work of our Left Hook comrades
who are on the front-line organizing youth and students.

I am frequently asked by subscribers if there is a way that they can help
out with the work of Marxmail financially. Fortunately, the move to the U.
of Utah has relieved a lot of the pressure that was on us. I strongly
suggest that those of you who feel such an affinity for Marxmail should
contribute to the Left Hook fund drive. We are all in this struggle
together, no matter our age. I myself will pledge $25 to their fund-drive
and urge others to pitch in whatever they can.
