  Just a comment, and_not_an invitation for debate:

1) It's for the Palestinian people to decide what type of political
system to adopt.

2)  Zionism (as practiced within the state of Israel) is very much
tied into religion. For example, Othodox Jewish laws govern
marriage rights/rituals, divorce, conversion, immigration, burial
rights/placement, etc.
