some more movies (nothing like a little email to digest) .....
Body and Soul (John Garfield, w/ Abraham Polonsky screenwriter)
a stretch: Outland, with Sean Connery and Peter Boyle, big mining company
drugging workers on a distant planet to work harder (and go crazy). Sean
Connery as the lawman who cleans up the workplace.
another stretch: The Professionals, four gunfighters/mercs (Woody Strode
again!, Burt Lancaster, Jack Palance as Mexican revolutionary, etc)
ultimately side against the "owner".
i forget if these were to be US films only, but see:
Dezertir (1933, Soviet Union)
from IMDB:
A wise and forgiving communist leader decides to send a young worker, Karl
Renn (Boris Livanov), as an international delegate to the Soviet Union after
the worker had deserted a picket-line and had expressed doubts about the
methods of class struggle in in his own country.
Wages of Fear, forerunner to the "story" of those guys running trucks thru
Iraq.
