[Marxism] SWP abstention from the antiwar movement
It was the SWP that played the central role in keeping the anti Vietnam war
movement in the streets. It was the SWP that politically fought against
abstention by the ultralefts and being co-opted by the Democrats. This was
acknowledged by our allies, political opponents, and even the FBI and was the
reason
for our growth in numbers, influence and respect. As an illustration of how
far they have drifted, at the August march in NYC where half a million people
expressed their hatred of this war, the only sign of the SWP was a small
literature table on a side street !! Who cares about their editorials calling
for out now? Talk is cheap - show me what they're doing to build a mass
movement against an imperialist war. Read Fred Halstead's OUT NOW ! and you'll
understand what they should be doing, but aren't.
