[Marxism] swing states and the gay marriage issue

I would predict a very high correlation between the so-called "swing
states" and the states (11 in total) which had a proposition on the
ballot condemning gay marriage. I'm guessing republican strategists
figured out that if they could get voters to the polls to vote against
gay marriage, those same voters, while they were at it, would vote for
Bush. Thus, these strategists ensured that the appropriate proposition
was on the ballots of those swing states. Has anyone seen an article
making this comparison?
