[Marxism] "Gays to blame for bush victory" --"Grandpa" Al Lewis

Sad, really sad, how lesser evilism works. Any of you New Yorkers listen to
Grandpa Al Lewis' tirade against gay activists this morning? He accused them
of losing the election for Kerry by pushing gay marriage. He started off by
stating that Bush won on moral and family value issues, then took proponents
of gay marriage to task for making 2 strategic mistakes. First, promoting
gay marriage when "public opinion" is not ready for it, particularly during
this electoral period, and second for aspiring to "be like the oppressor" by
pursuing marital rights, rather than celebrating gay "uniqueness." Lewis
waxed eloquent in defense of the civil rights movement and its pursuit of
institutional equality for African Americans and other oppressed people, but
by some leap of logic, concluded that marital rights for gays are somehow
different, they constitute "aspiring to be like the oppressor." I guess
since Lewis couldn't go after Nader this year, he had to go after someone on
the left, so as not to burn his Democratic bridges.
