Although Cockburn has embraced lots of nutty positions over the years, I
don't think that there is any kind of ongoing homophobic leaning. My
guess is that he wrote this in the same spirit of Thomas Frank, namely
that what's wrong with Kansas is taking controversial "social"
positions. My own position is that winning elections is less important
than struggling against injustice.
