[Marxism] US ruling class and elections

I asked this question on the list 6 months ago, and some comrades very
kindly directed me to sites that showed contributions to the two campaigns
broken down in various ways. But the dollar figures were so tiny -- the
biggest items were all under $100,000 as I recall -- that they didn't prove
much. We can safely assume that big capital makes token donations to both
sides, after all. We'd need to know who's behind the big dollars that are
presumably flowing through channels that official data don't show.

Lou Paulsen's thoughts seem sensible. I just have one further one -- I keep
hearing that Kerry's "better on the environment". That might be
superficial, but equally might it  be that Kerry speaks for that section of
the bourgeoisie that would like to begin cutting greenhouse emissions etc
in emulation of the Europeans, introduce carbon trading on a national
scale, etc? This would hardly be a left stance -- no more left than Arnold
Schwarzenegger in California, anyway.
