[Marxism] RE problems with 'the making of the english workingclass'
Here's a chance to test the theories we've been batting around:
A copy of the TUEL's 1926 program for garment has just been put up at
http://www.marxists.org/history/international/comintern/sections/usa/1926/tuel.htm
Despite its orientation toward "the Needle Trades" it's a good example of the
League's approach in general, with lots of important commentary on union
democracy and militancy, industry structures, and political action.
So... what do the various theories about class and class consciousness tell us
about how far the TUEL got and why it didn't get farther?
P.S. I transcribed it for the Archive and am looking for other TUEL documents
to do the same with. I've seen some on the used book sites but if anyone has
any already and would like to email or snail mail copies to me I'll pay the
freight!.
