I had the unfortunate experience of watching the conference debate. It
was quite amazing the number of delegates who got up and claimed they
were for socialism and the war in the same breath. This is a war for the
iraqi trade unions apparently.. since Saddam would kill them out of hand
(now we just close down their papers and headquarters, arrest them and
"abuse" them in Abu Grahib).
The anti-war speakers were quite weak.. but the debate was a stich up...
the number of times the chair interrupted to wheel in some poor
unfortunate iraqi who was in tears of gratefulness to the US for bring
"freedom"!
