RE:[Marxism] Big Unions Save Blair on Iraq

"Yes, there have been difficulties. Yes, there have been mistakes;

perhaps many mistakes. No, you did not find weapons of mass
destruction. But for the great majority of Iraqis, WMD was never the
issue. We don't understand the criticism of your prime minister. All
we wanted was to be free; free - just free"."

The Arabs are not in short supply of their own "house negroes" to
borrow Malcolm's invaluable phrase. Naturally the Brits don't invite
any of the victims of the massive violence and terror that's been
precipitated by the US invasion to come speak at this conference.
And then of course there's the 10-30,000 Iraqis who are too "free"
from the particles of this earth to even have the chance.

Anyway, in the form of this vote, once again the Western working class
hands the Islamist radicals who label all Westerners "enemies" another
great victory. I wonder what insights psychologists of the future - if
there is a future - will produce on why those who commit criminal acts
think that the continuation of their crime is an act of great
benevolence for their victims.

Even these figures who claim
to have opposed the war are 90% in favor of staying now. The other day
a clearly intelligent guy, Larry Diamond, foreign affairs writer,
former senior cpa adviser, big-shot stanford guy, came to Northeastern,
delivered a stinging critique of the war, and then insists we can't
stay because of popular resentment but we can't leave because...
civil war and chaos will accelerate. As if centuris of foreign
interference haven't wrought enough havoc.
