[Marxism] 'The West sets Terrorists on Russia'...

The West sets terrorists on Russia

Shortly before recent terrorist attacks, Russia was warned that it
would face problems unless it withdraws from the Caucasus and
surrenders it to Western countries

We have got used to the sympathetic attitude to rebels attacking Russia
from Western media and politicians. European and American media do not
like to speak about innocent victims of terrorist attacks. Instead,
they focus on the sufferings of suicide terrorist bombers and their
rightful revenge. In fact, they encourage terrorists, offering them
moral and political support. It is no secret that odious figures like
exiled tycoon Boris Berezovsky and bandit Akhmet Zakayev, who changed
his camouflage uniform for expensive civilian clothes, found a warm
welcome in the West. This is not new. Having realized that it cannot
change Russia?s policy through the rat race of human rights
campaigners, protests by the OSCE and the threats of ?new leaders? like
Mikhail Saakashvili, the West turned to open pressure on Moscow.
Perhaps, this is just a coincidence. But maybe not. Days before the
deadly school siege in North Ossetia, which claimed hundreds of
innocent lives, a number of very influential foreign media, expressing
the position of the establishment, warned Vladimir Putin that Russia
should withdraw from the Caucasus, otherwise his career would end. When
the Russian President said in his address to the nation that Russia was
facing a war, he was speaking not only about ?international terrorism?.

Throughout the weekend, all foreign leaders expressed their condolences
to President Putin and the Russian people. But were they sincere? It is
with the sanction of these countries? leaders that their top officials
warmly receive envoys of Chechen separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov and
offer them political support. Public statements that Russia should
start a political dialog with ?legitimately elected? Chechen
authorities work for the same purpose (under the ?legitimately elected?
authorities they mean Maskhadov and his people, who expelled almost all
non-Chechens from the republic and enslaved hundreds of people). It is
the EU?s and the US?s pandering to terrorists that inspires the bandits
for new ?feats?.

Following the school siege drama, foreign media became hysterical
again, repeating that Russia only knows how to kill peaceful Chechens
and Russian hostages, blaming it all on the Kremlin. This approach
stroke a cord with foreign audiences. Just a day before, they saw a
?nice? picture on TV screens and the BBC?s comments, referring to the
bandits firing at children as ?rebels?. TF1?s reporter said it was not
the first time that Putin had arranged a bloodbath under the pretext of
freeing hostages. For his part, Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot said
in a statement on behalf of EU foreign ministers, that the EU would
like to know from Russian authorities how the tragedy could have
happened. So, it is not surprising that the killed and wounded Russian
children are seen as the victims of Russian imperialism. And
terrorists, who gather moral and financial strength in European
capitals, where headquarters of various Islamic groups are located,
seem to be not to blame, again.

But Russia got used to that long ago, and all this cannot change
Russia?s policy on the Caucasus. Even direct military provocation by
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, who seems to have been
encourage to ?bark? at Moscow, did not change Moscow?s line. The new
?Caucasian tsar? even threatened to start a war on Russia. Pressure
from the OSCE and organizations calling themselves human rights
campaigners, did not help, either. It seems the West decided to
directly dictate its conditions to Moscow.

A week before a series of recent terrorist attacks in Russia, the West,
through its influential media, sent an ultimatum to Moscow. The
position of the Western establishment, in the first place, the
Anglo-Saxon establishment, was clearly expressed in The Economist
magazine. It published an article suggesting that the Kremlin should go
away from the Caucasus, where its policy failed, and invite the West to
come there instead. On the other hand, the West should breed leaders
like Mr. Saakashvili, ?whose openness to interethnic co-existence and
commitment to Western values make him the most promising leader for
decades?. In order words, do what we tell you, and you will remain in
power as long as you want. Russia must review its policy on Caucasus,
and Western leaders should put all these issues clearly before Vladimir
Putin. The reputation of Mr. Putin and Russia is at stake, the magazine
stressed.

But Russia did not heed the warning, and it indeed faced the problem
days after the publication. First came a double air crash and a suicide
bomb attack outside a Moscow metro station, and then ? the school siege
in Belsan which ended in carnage. Those behind the siege hoped that it
would splash over the whole Caucasus. So far, it is unclear who was
behind the international brigade of bandits and cannibals. But it is
clear that it is impossible to carry out a series of well-coordinated
and professional terrorist attacks without involvement of highly
qualified ?experts?.

It seems that, having bet on large scale terrorist acts, forces behind
them turned to direct involvement in the ?changing? of political
situation in the Caucasus, provoking new ethnic wars in Russia, in the
North Caucasus. The only way to resist is to show that we are ready for
a new war, we are ready to fight by the new rules and new methods, not
against mythical ?international terrorists?, which do not exist, but
against those behind ?rebels and fighters for freedom?, geopolitical
puppeteers who are ready to kill thousands of Russian people to achieve
their goal of re-dividing the world.
