[Marxism] Chavez to go for the jugular?

First they change the rules of the game to benefit the working class and
poor, then they defeat the April 2002 US-backed coup, then the wrestle back
control from the "meritocracy" in PDVSA in response to a two-month bosses
strike, they purge the military of disloyal elements and continue to
integrate the civic-military relationship putting it firmly on the side of
the revolutionary process, they beat the reactionary opposition again in
the recall referendum, demoralising and split it in the pathetic state it
is. Now it seems the Venezuelan people may be going for the jugular, the
king blow - a direct attack on the political committee  of the counter
revolution, the capitalist media. Hopefully more news will filter through,
but there can be no doubt that a direct attack on the media which is the
last vestige of some viable opposition, the rest being so discredited,
shows the confidence of the Chavez government in continuing to move forward
in his Boliviarian Revolution following the recall referendum.
I remeber following the defeat of the bosses strike, Chavez had talked
about changing media laws, but seem to back away, i think because the time
was not ripe, internationally, to move ahead with such a move. Now
following the recall and most likely strong victory for the Chavistas in
the elections in October, it is much hard for the international media to
condemn such moves.
It is however yet to be seen what the result of the debate and likely
outcome will be.
