You might also check out stuff written by Diana Johnstone (Lou P could
give you references) and Joan Phillips. I just did a search on Joan
Phillips and Yugoslavia and it turned up a chunk of her stuff, including
an article she wrote in 'Covert Action Quarterly'. She also made a doco
called "Journalists At War" around 1994, which showed how the media
misrepresented events. Plus there is a fascinating article by Thomas
Deichmann, showing how British news agency ITN created concentration
camp images out of a fence around a shed.

I think the left groups that championed Kosovo and demonising the Serbs
have a lot to answer for.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the work of those mentioned. I'm
fascinated by Yugoslavia, by how they (the West) were able to get away with
dismantling a nation without any serious opposition, how successful they were in
painting those who wanted to keep their country together as fascist killers
hell bent
on genocide.

As to your last point about the various left groups which supported the KLA,
I completely agree. We see today the same kind of weak analysis by some on the
left when it comes to Iraq, Cuba and N. Korea.

If only they would put away their blueprints of what a socialist state should
look like and start living in a world in which things such as objective and
material conditions actually do exist.
