This seems like an oversimplification. If anybody can recommend a good
analysis of why events took the course they did in Afghanistan, I'd like
to hear it. One on hand, you have the CP and Spartacist League defense
of Soviet troops bringing modernity to the backward savages at the point
of a bayonet. On the other, you have kneejerk Trotskyist opposition to
Soviet intervention. The truth is probably somewhere's in-between. Sorry
if that sounds too wishy-washy.
