[Marxism] Democracy Now! report on "The Take
iNTENSE RED WRITES:
Todays' Democracy Now!
<http://www.democracynow.org/index.pl?issue=20040920> has a
>*great* report of Naomi Klein's new documentary, "The Take". The report
>tells of a factory in Argentina which was closed by the owner, but the workers
>refuse to leave.
They agreed to one salary for all workers and run the factory democratically.
Definitely worth watching.<
jUST WANT TO ditto this recommendation. The Zanos factory seems to be running
better as a worker coop than under the former capitalist who is also featured.
Just a glimpse: When a reporter says to the Union president "We have a word for
this it's called *stealing*" he smiles and replies, "We have our own word. It's
called "expropriation." Klein does a nice job of situating the "Occupy, Resist,
Produce," movement in Argentina within the ravages of neoliberal capitalism and
makes very unusual, insightful analogies to the Iraq situation. Very impressive.
