RE: [Marxism] Jesse Jackson / Marxism & Religion
Does anyone on this list do work in the real world? There are many, many
religious people involved in the peace movement in Seattle. Many of them are
involved BECAUSE they take their religious principles seriously, not in
spite of them. Not honoring and valuing their contribution is precisely the
sort of thing that makes organizations smaller, more sectarian, less likely
to be involved in broad coalition work, and so forth. Not working with them
on projects where agreement is possible is the sheerest stupidity
imaginable.
Someone from the Socialist Alternative in Seattle, in the run-up to the
split of the March 20th demonstration forces, actually said he opposed the
coalition's meeting in churches because some people were sensitive about it.
He didn't mean Muslims. I hung my head in shame.
There is an excellent book called Fidel on Religion that should be a part of
every revolutionary's reading. Learn from the master.
