Re: [Marxism] Jesse Jackson
My wife and I initiated the Jackson primary campaign in this
congressional district in 88, and were primarily responsible for his
delivering the last speech of the '88 Illinois primary campaign here in
Bloomington, Illinois. (We were LRS members at the time.) It was highly
useful campaigning for Jackson, and he is indeed a great speaker. But
none of us involved in that campaign had any illusions about Jackson
personally -- he was/is and always has been a careerist and an
opportunist. He struck me that way the first time I saw him on Chicago
TV in the summer of '69.
