RE: [Marxism] Woody Allen Speaks His Mind on Bush

I use Woody Allen and his adoption/raising of a young Korean woman he
later slept with and married as an example of "vertical integration."
(creating inputs in one subsidiary company for the output of another
parent company) in my classes.

What evidence do you have that he can laugh at himself?

| Woody Allen is an artist, not a politician. As a humanist concerned
| with people's vulnerabilities and what they do with them, he is
| certainly on
the
| Left. The good thing about him - regardless of whether you like his
| films and writings - is that he can both take himself seriously and
| laugh at himself. That is an important relativising quality for a
| political culture to have, which prevents it from degenerating into
| dogmatic fanaticism.
Real
| fanatics are unable to smile at themselves.
