Re: [Marxism] The Dead End of Anybody But Bush

Louis writes:

This [Nader] is the first *serious* challenge to the 2-party system since
Henry Wallace.

A rather curious statement, since:

A) Nader is very definitely NOT associated with any party, and shows no
evidence of wanting to form one

and

B) It is a certainty (both my view and evidence from the polls) that Nader
will be getting a fraction (likely well under 50%, my guess is more like 33%
or even 25%) of the votes he got in 2000.

I do think that a little more humility towards the ABB fraction, with which
I am most definitely not associated, is in order. Even if one believes in
both the necessity and the possibility of revolutionary change in this
country, and certainly SOME ABB'ers fit that description, it must never be
forgotten that no socialist revolution has yet been made in an advanced
capitalist country, especially one with the military, economic, and
propagandistic power of the United States. Anyone claiming that they KNOW
that tactics or strategies which worked for the Bolsheviks or Mao or Fidel
are the correct ones for the United States shares too much in common with
Catholics reciting their catechism, in my view. I don't BELIEVE that the ABB
strategy is the correct road forward, but since no "control experiment" is
possible, I'm not arrogant enough to state with absolute certainty that it
is not, nor to write off as hopeless anyone subscribing to that strategy.
