The Panthers did not "fade away" or end up in the Democratic Party. Their
leadership was systematically "eliminated" by the FBI and other US federal
agencies. At least 69 Panthers were killed. Of course, J. Edna Hoover was
doubly threatened by black males.

| And look how the Panthers ended up. Every Left organization that has tried
to act as a social service agency, either fades away, or ends up in the
democratic party. This doesn't mean that Leftists can't demand that the
social service agencies do their jobs, or fight for reforms. For example
fighting poverty, which is caused by unemployment, or underemployment. We
don't say, "well I guess we have to wait for the end of capitalism to deal
with this." Nope. We fight for the right of workers to organize, full
employment through a shorter work week, and/or a massive public works
program, just for starters, at the same time, building anti-imperialist
consciousness. We have to do it all. It's a daunting job, but I say we're
all up to it. I have the world of confidence in you, Joe.
