I was a bit surprised at that too. I think Petras' case might be a little
on the pessimistic side, but of course he knows more about the situation than
I do.
However, I think Chavez knows more than any of us. Chavez seems to be
playing a pragmatic role right now. He's survived two coups and I'm betting
he knows he's not a cat with 9 lives. Perhaps he's thinking now is the time
to consolidate and to build his support into something more substantial?
