Solidarity has an orientation toward industrial workers? You sure you're
not thinking of some other organization?

Well, I was at their convention last weekend and I was as "stunned", to
use a favorite Militant verb, as you seem to be to find that Solidarity
has a significant (as the left goes these days) presence in the
industerial unions.  I am talking workers here, not officials or
staffers.  There a few dozen of them,  and the organization is thinking
about ways to expand their numbers and concentrate and organize their
efforts better.

Quite a few of the industrial workers had been expected not to show up
at the convention, but they did and this changed the meeting in ways I
thought was positive.  I hope the turnout is a signal that things are
beginning to heat up a bit on their jobs.

When I get an authoritative report on the convention, I will post it
with my comments.  My membership in Solidarity is pending.

So yes, the SWP's claim that everyone but themselves has abandoned the
industrial workers in a general surge to the right is  inaccurate and
distorted although, I am sure, deeply and fondly believed.
