[Marxism] Re: 1980s Nicaragua solidarity

Nick, I have no interest in chewing over the alleged errors, long ago, of a
left group (the I.S.) I wasn't a member of at the time. But I don't mind
answering for my own actions.

It's true that while writing about the need for solidarity, I didn't do
much about Nicaragua in practice. The reason is simple. Like many Socialist
Action members, I was spending all my free time at meetings, on picket
lines, at demonstrations defending the Builders Labourers' Federation. A
class struggle in my own city, which despite major weaknesses had an
incomparably bigger impact on politics than the tiny Nicaragua solidarity
campaign which your group artificially sustained (my perception, anyway).
Unfortunately Nicaragua just didn't resonate here as an issue.

In real life we can't throw ourselves into everything; our resources are
scarce and we have to prioritise. You do it too.
