[Marxism] Bouncing Kushes and Berries

The idea that Kerry would get a big "bounce" out of the convention is
simply one invented by the Republican media to make their guy, Bush,
look better.

The fact is that this year, 90%+ of the usual voters (half the
population) have decided how they are going to vote, and it is roughly
50-50, with Nader getting a hard-core 2-3%.

The situation among adults as a whole --not just likely voters-- is
similar, although among all adults Kerry is running significantly
stronger than Bush. What you would expect, knowing that the likely
voters are older, whiter, more upscale socio-economically than the
population as a whole.

The bigger pockets of undecided, from the polls I've seen, are in the
Black and Latino communities, and in the overlapping category of
lower-income people. Those folks are all way to the Left of Kerry; there
is no way he could have gotten a bounce from them.

The one who has a real chance, albeit it is unlikely to be realized, of
getting a "bounce" going forward is Nader. The big majority of Kerry
voters are closer to Nader's positions than Kerry: against the war,
against corporate welfare and crime, for single-payer health insurance.
Those are three of the four big issues (the fourth "the war against
terrorism"/"homeland security" belongs entirely to the bourgeois
parties.)
