Bristling notwithstanding, the alterative to an ultimately democratic
faith in the capacities of working people points towards a socialism
that has to be imposed by a self-constituted vanguard.

Been there, done that.

We aren't morally or intellectually superior to the deluded.  On one
level or another, we were all there at one point.  Well-intentioned
people make knuckleheaded self-destructive choices all the time.  If you
get frustrated with the ABBS, just remember that there are legions of
ancestor-worshipping born-again lunatics who prefer the clouded
self-righteousness that provides the Republicans with a mass base.
