Re: [Marxism] New PSL party

Virtually every socialist organization I have ever come in contact with has
its offices in the heart of working-class or oppressed communities; for
example, in San Francisco, they tend to be found in the Mission district.
Mission District, as I recall, is largely populated by Central and South
American immigrants. I lived in S Fran and attended a few Socialist Action
meetings at their office in the Mission District. ANSWER, or PSL, also have
their
office there as well. Now tell me, how many of these Spanish speaking immigrants
are in these organizations? How much of their literature is published in
Spanish to take account of the make up of this community? I'll tell you, as I
know,
less than one percent. Which is why both remain small and disconnected from
the very people they purport to represent.

Also, you specifically mentioned San Francisco. What about LA, New York,
Seattle? I guarantee you: go to any housing project in any of the aforementioned
cities and you will not find an office or shop front occupied by any
socialist/marxist party in the US. Not one.

'You have GOT to be kidding. Such slogans are the MAINSTAY of flyers I've
seen. I suppose you've never heard anyone chanting "Money for jobs, not for
war!" either.

This, as you correctly point out, is a slogan. It does not draw the
connection betwee international imperialism and domestic imperialism. It does
not in
any way provide any education that might help attract new recruits and support,
failing to instil class consciousness. We don't want money for jobs, as if a
job is the goal. Surely we want to take power. We need militancy. 'No war but
the class war' is a much better slogan, backed up by literature which explains
why a class war is being waged against the working class and how that war must
be joined.

Too much time is spent trying to appeal to a liberal intelligentsia, in
forming these heterogenous coalitions which lack militancy and political focus.
Just take a look at the state of the movement then tell me which of us is really
divorced from reality.

Scot.
