[Marxism] Bolivarian oil workers and soldiers attacked by local oil company boss
Class conflict and polarization are rising in Venezuela as the date of
the referendum on Chavez's presidency draws near.
The rightists probably need to provoke some sharp conflict that can be
picked up by the media in the imperialist countries to explain away the
increasingly probable victory of Chavez in the vote.

Armed groups associated with PDVSA's
Madail attack petroleum workers in Anaco

Jose Canache La Rosa reports: Acts of violence took
place Friday morning in Anaco when armed groups
attacked petroleum workers in the Anaco PDVSA District
Gas telecommunications building, causing property
damage.
Petroleum Workers, Chemists, and Marine Workers
(Pequimar) union leader Eudis Girot said that PDVSA
workers had decided to denounce irregularities in the
Anaco PDVSA plant over corporate radio airwaves on
106.3 PDVSA FM. "A group of people affiliated with
Anaco PDVSA Gas manager Wenceslao Madail broke into
the radio station and destroyed PDVSA property,
breaking doors and windows, even overwhelming National
Armed Forces personnel who were providing security to
the installations."
"Army personnel had to fire shots into the air, and
even with that, Madail's groups didn't calm down. They
attacked and broke the facilities where the workers
were making their denunciation."
Girot explained that Army and the National Guard representatives in
Anaco have sponsored conversations between Wenceslao Madail and the
workers who initiated their complaint, "but Madail refused to speak with
the workers. The workers and the communities are continuing their fight,
because the blackmail being perpetrated by the Madail brothers, Alberto
in Maturin and Wenceslao in Anaco, is unsupportable."
The union leader said "Wenceslao Madail's
counterrevolutionary conduct damages the Bolivarian
revolution, and puts resources at the service of the
enemies of President Hugo Chavez Frias' government."
Girot denounced that Madail is setting up a situation
room to monitor the August 15 presidential recall
referendum, "and he is appointing a person openly
opposed to the revolutionary process to be in charge
of this room; for this reason, the patriotic workers
decided to reject Wenceslao Madail and his management,
which is characterized by murky handling of PDVSA
contracts and monies."
"Anaco PDVSA Gas workers have proof and recordings
against Wenceslao Madail, and Pequimar will be there
supporting workers' rights and being very attentive to
Madail's counterrevolutionary conduct. We ask that the
national Executive branch intervene, because we
petroleum workers are already tired of the Madail
brothers. They are profoundly attacking the industry's stability and the
revolutionary process in eastern Venezuela."
