Come next November/December/January all leftists are going to have
to work together to oppose the war-mongering administration (no
prediction of election outcome implict here). It behooves us to keep
this debate between ABBs and non-ABBs more or less civil in the
meantime. The basis for keeping it civil, I believe, is agreement
that what we are faced with is a difference of empirical judgment,
not of principle.

I think that there is a big difference between (1) Anybody But Bush
and (2) Anybody But Bush and Nader, and among the latter, (3) those
who are opposed to the Nader campaign but do not make much of it and
(4) those who appear to spend more time bashing Nader than Bush.
It's impossible to expect civility from the last group, and it's
futile to expect them to amount to much politically. They do more
harm than good, and that is not likely to change in the near future.
