[Marxism] Nader in SF
1,000 Cheer on Nader/Camejo at San Francisco Campaign Rally
San Francisco - Todd Chretien
7/16/04
One-thousand enthusiastic supporters crammed Mission High School auditorium
to launch Ralph Nader âs independent candidate for president.
âTheyâre laughing at us. The corporations and the two parties who they
own
donât believe weâll ever have enough power to challenge them. So they
humiliate us and take away our rights without any worries. Theyâre laughing
at
us. Are we going to let them get away with it?â Nader asked the crowd.
â
NO,â came the response.
âBush started the war in Iraq, but Kerry voted for it and both of then intend
to continue the occupation. They both 100% support the Israeli military
occupation of the occupied territories. When you close your mind with the
Anybody But Bush mantra, that just means the Democrats can take you for granted
and
keep moving further to the right. Thatâs what theyâve been doing for 20
years,â explained Nader.
Naderâs Green Party running mate, Peter Miguel Camejo, criticized those who
are telling Nader not to run. âYou canât get rid of Bushâs policies by
voting for a candidate who voted to support those policies. Kerry isnât
Bush-lite, heâs Bush-smart!â
Supporters contributed nearly $20,000 at the event and hundreds of people
from all over northern California took petitions to launch the effort to
collect
the 153,000 signatures Nader and Camejo need to get on the ballot in the next
three weeks.
