[Marxism] Why are these drums being beaten for a US invasion of Arabia?
"Can anyone explain... ta-dah doddy-dah..."
Saudi Arabia: The historical record is clear: the Saudi royal family and the
US "power elite" have been closely allied since the 1930s. Both have
provided important services to the other. And each continues to need the
support and cooperation of the other in many spheres.
But recently a contrary trend has emerged: an important segment of the US
Ruling Class apparently desires to replace the present Saudi regime with
something else.
So who is it that stands to benefit from such a change? And what form could
such benefits take? What kind of "changed regime" could possibly serve US
imperial interests better than the existing one?
Putting myself in the shoes of your average Joe Imperialist, it doesn't seem
to make much sense. Am I overlooking something obvious?
Cui Bono?
