Re: [Marxism] My blog

The difference is that Left I on the News has 400 readers a day,
most of whom are not Marxists, some of whom are not even
progressives or even liberal, and I believe (perhaps
self-delusionally) that what I put together on the blog will have
some educational effect on those people (again, if I didn't think
so, I wouldn't bother). Steering people to articles they might not
have read, giving them something to think about they might not have
thought, I consider those valuable contributions.
That's one of the reasons I recommended to Lou that he should start a
blog of his own -- especially I wanted folks to discover his film
reviews. A blog has entries on a diversity of topics on the same
page (unless the blogger decides to exclusively focus on one
particular topic), so lots of people who do Google and other searches
on one topic can happen on your blog and may decide to look at other
entries, not jut the one that contains the keywords they used for
their searches.
BTW, looking at sitemeter.com and other counters, I found out that
two to four times more people look at most blogs (including mine)
during weekdays than weekends (contrary to my initial expectation),
so lots of people must be surfing the net at work rather than at
home. Traffic tends to be especially heavy during lunch hours.
Sitemeter.com and other counters are also interesting, in that they
show you from what other websites visitors to your blog come, what
they read, who they are, etc.
