GERMANY: Left regroups to form electoral challenge


In my eyes the GLW article is far too optimistic in terms of what
electoral support there will be for a SPD-split. Other polls see them at
about 2%, which seems to be more realistic in my eyes. I guess they will
form some form of electoral pact with the PDS.

But at the moment this is not the decisive fact: we are witnessing the
total collaps of what used to be the SPD.

Schroeders policies have alienated the very social core of the party from
the leadership, this can have unpredicatable consequences, a viable left
split might be one, but there might be other less pleasant consequences as
well... At the moment things are very much changing from day to day, so it
is very hard to make any predictions of the course of events.

Even if you do not agree with the WSWS brand of sectarianism, there

woth reading, because they expose the problematic points:
