This will probably be my last comments on this MILITANT
article. I don't know why THE MILITANT prefers to use
"Jew-hatred" over "anti-Semitism", but it's another of
their kookily idiosyncratic usages, like insisting on
calling Bill Clinton "William". The Spartacists have a
habit like that, too. It's not the Middle East to them,
it's the "Near East". It's a rhetorical device so that
they control what and how things are discussed.

Anyway, yesterday's Los Angeles Times ran a story about
these same people, the "neo-cons", which also brings up
this business of so-called "anti-Semitism". As long as
I can remember, supporters of Israel have called those
who don't agree with them either "anti-Semitic" if they
aren't Jewish, or "self-hating Jews" for those who are.

I heard this in the sixties already. Anti-Semitism is,
of course, a problem, but it's hardly the "main danger"
in the world today. It remains "the socialism of fools"
as August Bebel put it so long ago. These forms of
bigotry are correctly seen as a diversion from the real
source of social problems, which are indeed rooted in
the greed and violence-ridden capitalist system.

The SWP's peculiar preoccupation with anti-Semitism,
anti-American demagogy and other issues is nothing but
their method for diverting the attention of readers
of their paper and members of their group over their
opposition to the anti-war movement. That's all it is.
