[Marxism] End of the NPI
The NDP since the advent of Broadbent has clearly turned to the right and
ejected almost all socialist concepts.
Broadbent at first ejected the socialist wafflers, and then proceeded to
believe that a class system did not exist and that public utilities and
services were a thing of the past since no mention of such concepts emerged
from his or his followers mouths till this day.
The NDP elite, one could say, was responsible for the demise of the NPI as they
put their own positions ahead of the country's good. They not only wanted to
retain their important positions in the party, but refused to give its members
in the ridings any explanation of the NPI vision. And at the NDP convention
they even refused to hear Paul Hellyer and Judy Rebick from giving their
visions of a better country by consolidating all the progressive forces on the
left.
Historically, social democratic parties such as the NDP have always "let the
people down" in the crunch. Today, even Jack Layton refuses to state
categorically to get out of NAFTA saying that the country would lose two
million jobs -- but states he wants to get rid of Chapter 11. Howeve, he
completely ignores the detrimental effects of "neo-colonialism" that Canada is
unsustainable if NAFTA and free trade concepts continue. Already citizens are
prevented from determining its own destiny -- which will results in the
country being swallowed by the crumbing American Empire (see any of Hurtig's
or Hellyer's books). He also refuses to emphasize the need for bank reform
which costs us unnecessarily some $65 billion ANNUALLY in interest payments
when federal, provincial and municipal interests costs are added up. And
lastly, he even refuses to state that he will abolish the regressive and highly
wasteful GST. Some future we will have even if the NDP did come to power!
