Re: [Marxism] what is Antiwar.com?

Not one answer to this question seems to have noted that Antiwar.com is
simply THE best daily roundup on the net of news and opinion about the wars
in Iraq and Palestine, the occupation of Palestine, the "war on terror," the
war on civil liberties, the scandals of the Bush administration, and lots
more. Yes, Justin Raimondo is a supporter of Pat Buchanan, and he does focus
occasionally in a conspiratoral way (but conspiracies DO exist!) on the
possible role of Israeli agents in 9-11 and the war against Iraq, but there
is no evidence I see of anti-Semitism in his remarks. 95% of Antiwar.com
consists of links to articles in the Times, the Post, the Guardian,
Ha'aretz, etc. etc. Do we not read the news in the Tmes or the Post because
those papers have pro-imperialist editorials? Hardly. And as for the opinion
pieces that are published on Antiwar.com, some of the speeches by Robert
Byrd and Ron Paul that have been reprinted at Antiwar.com have been far more
powerful antiwar messages than many of the speeches I've heard at antiwar
demos. Does the fact that the speakers are not anti-imperialist or Marxist
diminish the power of the words? Hardly.

Antiwar.com is THE best place to start the day (actually, if you're on the
West Coast like I am, it gets updated precisely at 10 p.m. every night) and
find out ALL the essential developments in the issues most of us are keenly
interested in. I have no hesitation about recommending it to any activist,
even a non-Marxist, even at the "risk" of subjecting them to the Libertarian
views of its managers.

One thing to remember - once the war (and occupation) of Iraq started, a
significant portion of "mainstream" America fell away from the antiwar
movement, buying into the "the war is on, support the troops, we didn't want
it but now that it's here we have to 'win'" line. Antiwar.com did not. It's
also worth remembering that Antiwar.com started with opposition to the war
against Yugoslavia - again, a position that was definitely not "mainstream."
They clearly oppose the Israeli occupation of Palestine as well. If you
can't see people like this as our allies, no matter their views on other
subjects, then I would say your vision is rather clouded.
